Bridge Section

Bridge is a very popular activity at the Club with a current active membership of over 150. We hold friendly, sociable Bridge sessions, with a broad age and skill range. There are sessions to suit all standards of play. We compete in the Fylde & District Bridge League and run in-house competitions throughout the year, culminating in the presentation of trophies and prizes at the end of year Summer Party. The bridge sessions are held in the Wilson Room of the main clubhouse.

A competition is held on President's Day with entry restricted to members of the Bridge Section.

Morning Sessions

There are, at the moment, two directed sessions of Duplicate Bridge played in the mornings throughout the year. These are more informal than the evening sessions and are popular with all levels of bridge players. Those less experienced players who wish to attend these sessions are made most welcome. The morning sessions are:

On Tuesday mornings, from 10.00 a.m., directed by Geoff Burnett. Table money is £1.00 per person, which includes tea and biscuits.

On Friday mornings, again from 10.00 a.m. and directed by Geoff Burnett. Table money is £1.00 per person, which includes tea and biscuits.

In addition, on Thursday mornings, informal rubber bridge is played by several ad hoc groups in the Clubhouse who come to enjoy a relaxed game and a chat.

Evening Sessions

Evening sessions of directed Duplicate Bridge are held on Mondays and Thursdays throughout the year. Both sessions begin at 7.00 p.m. (please be seated by 6.50 p.m.) and finish around 10.00 p.m. to 10.15 p.m. Table money for these sessions is £1.00 per person.

Malcolm Whitehead directs on Monday evenings and there is, as yet, no permanent director for the Thursday evening sessions.

The Club bar is open from 7.30 p.m.
